Keep the shared conversation going

ChatGPT stopped people creating or joining new group chats on 9 July 2026. Existing group chats will eventually become read-only. If you used that space with a partner, family member, or small team, the useful part was simple: everyone could speak in one conversation and the AI could see the same history.

Unium keeps that pattern available, and leans into it. Start a chat, send one link to the people who need to be in it, and continue together from the same thread. They join in one tap, on iPhone or on the web.

The AI is a participant, not a search box

A group chat where the AI just answers whoever typed last is not much better than three separate chats. In Unium the AI runs the conversation: it opens it, asks each of you for your side, keeps track of who said what, and comes back with something that accounts for both of you.

That is what makes it worth putting two people in one thread. Weekend plans, a trip, a decision nobody wants to make alone, the argument you keep having in circles.

More than one model can take part

A shared Unium chat is not tied to one provider. On a paid plan you choose GPT for one message, Claude for the next, or Gemini when it fits better. The conversation stays in place while the model changes, so everyone sees the same context and nobody has to move the discussion between apps.

Free chats run on a model we choose for you, so a group can try the whole thing before anyone pays for anything.

Share access without sharing an account

Each person joins with their own account. You do not hand over a password, mix private histories, or ask one person to relay every prompt and response.

Chats are shared with the people on your account by default, which is the point of it. When something should not be, long press it and make it private, and nothing from that chat is shared back.

One subscription covers the group

Nobody has to buy their own plan. One Unium subscription covers everyone on the account, from $10 a month, so adding your partner or your family does not add a second bill. See what each plan includes.

Moving from a ChatGPT group chat

Unium cannot automatically import a ChatGPT group chat. Open the conversation you want to continue, copy the important context or a summary into a new Unium chat, then send the link to the other participants. From that point on, everyone can keep working in the same shared thread.

OpenAI says existing group-chat history remains available during the wind-down. Its current help page explains the retirement timeline.
